Helping get Afghanistan back on track

The overall goal of the British forces in Afghanistan is to help the Afghan people rebuild their country.

Success will be achieved if a democracy is established and citizens are able to live their lives freely without fear of attack if they want their children to go to school.

So how much have those objectives advanced in Musa Qal’eh since the Folkestone-based Second Battalion of the Royal Gurkha Rifles took over the battlegroup there in October last year?

Our reporter Chris Price saw how the Afghan National Army, Afghan National Police and the justice system have all developed in the short time the Gurkhas have been in northern Helmand province.

The commitment to developing the area is not without its costs though - as the video above shows.
