Human remains have been recovered from the foreshore between Dover and Deal.

Dover lifeboat crew members were called at 12.50pm on Sunday March 7 after someone walking along the coast found the remains below the South Foreland lighthouse at St Margaret’s.

Due to the position and the tidal conditions it was not possible to approach the area safely by land.

After being guided to the location by members of the Langdon Coastguard Rescue Team, who were on the cliff top, three members of the lifeboat crew went ashore using the lifeboat’s inflatable Y boat.

They recovered the remains and handed them over to the police at Dover Lifeboat Station.
