A lawnmower thief and a cosmetics shoplifter are among those to face justice in Kent's magistrates' courts in this week's round-up.

Cosmetics shoplifter sentenced

Emma Frewen, of Grosvenor Place, Margate, stole cosmetic products worth £66.90 from a shop in Northdown Road, Margate.

Magistrates sentenced the 39-year-old to 60 days in prison, suspended for a year. She must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Two year ban for Margate man

Michael Robinson, of Caxton Road, drove a Kia Rio in Caxton Road, while disqualified and with no insurance. He also assaulted a police officer.

Magistrates banned the 64-year-old from driving for two years. He must also pay a £444 fine, £200 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Ban and unpaid work for young Ashford man

Tom Browne, of Harvey Road, failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis in Ashford.

Magistrates banned the 23-year-old from driving for a year and a half and ordered him to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Restaurant burglar sentenced

Claude Spencer, of Northdown Park Road, Margate, burgled a restaurant in Northdown Park Road, with the intent to steal.

Magistrates sentenced the 44-year-old to 84 days in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year.

He must also pay £2,885 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

160 hours of unpaid work for one man

Kieron Martin of Noble Gardens, Margate, resisted two police officers in the execution of their duty in Love Lane, Margate.

Magistrates ordered the 23-year-old to carry out 160 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Already disqualified driver banned

Matthew King, of Victoria Road, Margate, drove a Volkswagen Golf in Northdown Avenue, Margate, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates sentenced the 27-year-old to 120 days in prison and banned him from driving for 20 months. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Drink driver banned

David Paul, of Gilbert Road, Margate, drove a Mercedes ML270 in Haine Road, Ramsgate, with no insurance and gave a breath test of 82 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Magistrates banned the 29-year-old from driving for a year and eight months. He must also pay a £360 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Lawnmower thief behind bars

Benjamin Emamian-Naeni, of Surrey Road, Margate, broke into an address in Canterbury Road, Margate, and stole a lawnmower worth an unknown amount.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to 120 days in prison. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Margate man in prison

Grant Davis, of Northdown Road, Margate, broke into an address in Canterbury Road, Margate, and stole a lawnmower worth an unknown amount.

Two weeks for Tonbridge man

Marcus Baldock, of Hamble Road, Tonbridge, assaulted a man in Tudeley Road, Tonbridge.

He then interrupted court proceedings at West Kent Magistrates’ Court with threatening and aggressive behaviour.

Magistrates sentenced the 28-year-old to two weeks in prison. He must also pay £250 compensation, £250 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

More than two years off the road for one driver

Billy Draper, of Oak Trees, Maidstone, drove a Ford Mondeo in Cumberland Avenue, Maidstone, while disqualified and with no insurance.

Magistrates banned the 21-year-old from driving for two years and four months and ordered him to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Three year ban for Sheerness man

Justin Wells, of Royal Road, drove a Citroen Xsara in Kingsley Road, Maidstone, without a licence and with no insurance. He also gave a breath test of 49 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 26-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £270 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Queensborough teen sentenced

Thomas Beaney of Rushended Road, Queenborough, had two kitchen knives in his possession in High Street, Sittingbourne.

He then failed to surrender to bail at Mid Kent Magistrates’ Court without reasonable excuse.

Magistrates ordered the 18-year-old to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay an £85 victim surcharge.

Driving offender banned

Homeless Gavin O'Connor made off without paying for petrol worth £49 from a service station in Wingfield Bank, Northfleet.

He also drove a Saab 93 in Lower High Street, Rochester, without a licence and with no insurance. He also gave a breath test of 52 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates sentenced the 32-year-old to 176 days in prison and banned him from driving for a year and four month. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Dartford woman sentenced for false representation

Nikki Waterman, of Phoenix Place, Dartford, made a false representation by replying to an advertisement requesting a concert ticket and failing to supply a ticket of refund the money paid, intending to make a gain of £150 for herself.

Magistrates sentenced the 25-year-old to 90 days in prison, suspended for a year. She must also pay £150 compensation, £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Ax possessor sentenced

David Pearmain, of Hayley Close, Rochester, assaulted a man and had an ax in The Glebe, Rochester.

Magistrates sentenced the 51-year-old to 42 days in prison, suspended for a year, and ordered him to carry out 300 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £300 compensation, £150 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Two years off the road for one driver

Daniel Lampon, of High Street, Rochester, drove a Volkswagen Golf in City Way, Rochester, and gave a breath test of 91 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 39-year-old from driving for two years and ordered him to carry out 40 hours of unpaid work in the next year. He must also pay £50 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Driver banned for three years

Minesh Patel, of Burnt Oak Terrace, Gillingham, drove a Ford Focus in Parr Avenue, Gillingham, without a licence and gave a breath test of 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

Magistrates banned the 44-year-old from driving for three years. He must also pay a £120 fine, £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Gillingham man banned

Ioan Marinescu, of Franklin Road, drove a Vauxhall Corsa in London Road, Gillingham, without a licence and with no insurance. He also failed to provide a specimen of breath for analysis.

Magistrates banned the 34-year-old from driving for a year and a half. He must also pay a £200 fine, £85 costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

11 time petrol thief in prison

Hayden Day, of Cheriton Road, Folkestone, made off without paying for petrol worth a total of £592.55 on 11 counts from a service stations on the A2, Dover, in Brenzett, Romney Marsh, in Sandwich Road, Dover, in Park Farm Road, Folkestone and in Cheriton High Street, Folkestone.

He also stole vodka and brandy worth £50 from a shop in Park Street, Deal.

He then had a quantity of cannabis in Wincheap, Canterbury.

Magistrates sentenced the 20-year-old to 180 days in prison. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Man with large knife sentenced

Matthew Vann, of Gorse Avenue, Chatham, had a large kitchen knife and used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards another person at an address in Gorse Avenue.

Magistrates sentenced the 27-year-old to six weeks in prison, suspended for six months, and gave him a six month curfew to remain at home between 9pm and 6am daily until July 31.

He must also pay £100 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.

Serial shoplifter sentenced

James Lawson, of Newnham Street, Chatham, stole men’s coats worth £1,200 from a shop in Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham. He also stole women’s coats worth £1,200 from the same shop.

He then attempted to steal two air fryers and a vegetable spiralizer worth £89.97 from a supermarket in Duncan Road, Gillingham.

Lawson also stole men’s coats worth £237 from a shop in Maritime Way, Chatham.

He also stole men’s coats worth £400 from a shop in Hempstead Valley Shopping Centre, Gillingham.

He then drove a Seat Leon in New Road, Gillingham, dangerously and otherwise than in accordance with a licence. The vehicle did not meet insurance requirements and he failed to provide a blood specimen for analysis.

He finally stole a vacuum cleaner and two steam irons worth £99.97 from a shop in Walderslade Road, Chatham.

Magistrates sentenced the 36-year-old to 480 days in prison and banned him from driving for three years. He must also pay a £115 victim surcharge.

Tool box thief in prison

Daren Richardson, of Church Street, Rochester, stole two tool boxes and various tools worth £250 from a vehicle in Dale Road, Rochester.

Magistrates sentenced the 50-year-old to 30 days in prison. He must also pay £85 costs and a £115 victim surcharge.
