James Tredwell was "delighted" with his best ever one-day figures of 6-27 as Kent eased to a comfortable six wicket win over Middlesex at Southgate on Sunday.

The 27-year-old off-spinner (pictured right) caused mayhem in the home ranks in a spectacular four over burst of 6-4 that saw them plummet from 61-2 to 68-8, before wicketkeeper Ben Scott and tailenders Chris Silverwood and Steve Finn got them to 133.

Kent eased to victory with nearly 13 overs in hand, Darren Stevens (37 not out) hitting the winning boundary with the game completed shortly after 5pm.

Tredwell, who snapped up dangerous young Australian Phil Hughes with his first delivery, said: "I was absolutely delighted to get my first five-wicket haul one day cricket. It looked as if it might turn, and reacted to the seamers early on.

"I don't think it turned as extravagantly as the figures suggest though, and there were few average shots played.

"The ball's been coming out well early season, and I have worked on a couple of technical things which seem to be paying dividends at the moment."
