Kent and Derbyshire play out a draw in the LV County Championship Division 2

Kent remain top of the LV County Championship Division 2 after their match at Derbyshire ended in a draw on Saturday.

An unbeaten 194-run third wicket partnership between skipper Rob Key (141 not out) (pictured)and Martin van Jaarsveld (101 not out) saw Kent close their second innings on 333-2.

Kent batted first and were all out for 281 in their first innings. Geraint Jones made 108, while youngster Alex Blake chipped in with 44.

Steffan Jones was the pick of the Derbyshire bowlers, returning figures of 5-35 from 20.5 overs.

Derbyshire’s batsman dominated the Kent bowling attack during their first innings with opener Chris Rogers (208) leading the way with a double century.

Garry Park made 178, while Rogers’ fellow opener Wayne Madsen weighed in with 75 and Greg Smith 59 in Derbyshire’s 583-4 declared.

Amjad Khan was the only Kent player to have any success with the ball, taking all four wickets for 110 runs.
