Beer production is being brought back to a Kent town - 25 years after time was called on it.

The Royal Tunbridge Wells Brewing Company is reviving the tradition using local ingredients and Tunbridge Wells water.

And the brewery in Chapman Way has promised to produce a range of the finest cask conditioned and bottled Kentish ales.

New owner Simon Lewis, who has 20 years experience of working in the brewing trade, said: "This is a culmination of a year's of hard work to bring the brewing tradition back to this area.

"We, as a company, are committed to make use of local produce whenever possible, including excellent Kentish hops, to make a range of unique beers for our customers.

"I think that these will be beers the town can be proud of."

Simon has teamed up with former owner Ian Dormon to re-open the brewery.

Ian said: "I am thrilled to be involved with this project. Tunbridge Wells has missed having a brewery it can call its own.

"I am looking forward to working with the local outlets and crafting great beer that the town and its drinkers can proudly call their local brew."

The brewing team is holding a series of private tastings for the first brewery samples.
