Four 'Rock Choirs' from Kent have been signed up on a multi-album record deal by the world's largest music label.

The singers don't have to audition, and perform pop, gospel and Motown numbers in groups of up to 1,000.

Now Rock Choir Ltd - which includes over 60 ensembles from southern England - have been snapped up by Universal on a four-album deal.

More than 300 locals are members of Kent's choirs at Sevenoaks, Tonbridge, Bromley and Orpington.

Jo Woods, who leads Kent's choirs, said: "When I told them we had been offered a record deal they didn’t know whether to cheer or panic.

"The individuals who join Rock Choir tend not have sung in public before and come along to weekly rehearsals not only to learn how to sing and enjoy the feel good songs but to have time out for themselves and be part of something special."
