A Kent dad has become an overnight millionaire after scooping a life-changing £1 million in the EuroMillions draw.

The lucky winner, known only as Mr A, matched the winning raffle code in the draw on Friday, March 28 – and also pocketed an extra £2.80 on his ticket.

The delighted dad-of-two says his first treat was a weekend away to celebrate and he is now planning even bigger changes for the future.

He said: “This win is amazing and will allow me to travel more and buy a new home. I feel incredibly lucky.”

For every EuroMillions line played, UK players automatically receive a Millionaire Maker code printed on their ticket, creating at least one new millionaire in every draw.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at Allwyn, operator of The National Lottery, congratulated the Kent winner, saying: “This lucky dad from Kent has become a millionaire overnight, what a life-changing prize.

“We’re so happy that this prize will have such a positive impact on the winner’s life, with a new home and lots of travel on the cards - huge congratulations!”

National Lottery winners have the opportunity to release their names, remain anonymous or, like Mr A, release some details through partial publicity.

On average, the National Lottery generates more than £30 million each week for projects around the UK.

In total, more than £50 billion has now been raised and more than 700,000 individual grants have been made across the country.
