AWARD-winning actor Chris Langham, who is based in Kent, is expected to stand trial on serious sex charges in June next year.

The 57-year-old star, from Golford, near Cranbrook, was not asked to enter pleas to eight charges of indecent assault and another serious sexual offence between April 1996 and April 1998 and 15 charges of making indecent photographs of children in 2005.

Judge Philip Statman was told at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday that the available trial date was June 20.

A further hearing will be held on February 15 when Langham will enter pleas.

The actor, who won a BAFTA in May for his role in the BBC comedies The Thick Of It and Help, spoke only to be identified and confirm he understood the details of his conditional bail.
