Let the bidding commence on homes auction

The final round of residential auctions of 2010 promises to deliver some highly attractive sale prices for bidders with stamina - and plenty of ready cash.

Not many have the confidence to buy on a whim in a highly jittery market. So fortune, in the next couple of weeks, will almost certainly favour those unfazed by the pressure of the auction room.

The Clive Emson sale in Maidstone on Wednesday, December 14 includes a one-bedroom flat not far from the seafront in Ramsgate, Kent (£25,000-£30,000) and terraced houses in the Medway Towns around £75,000.

For bargain buys in south London and the suburbs, look no further than the Andrews & Robertson sale on Tuesday, December 13: Interesting lots include a studio flat in Sidcup, Kent (£50,000-plus). Southwark Council is also selling some attractive period terraces in Peckham and Camberwell - two corners of south-east London reckoned to be 'on the up'. A first-floor flat in Peckham has a £120,000 guide.
