Island supremacy is up for grabs this weekend as Sheppey and Sheerness East clash in the Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield first round.

The clubs will meet for the first time this season and both managers appreciate the importance of claiming the bragging rights.

Sheppey are the home side but have switched the fixture to East’s Working Men’s Club and boss Stuart Davidson is hoping his inexperienced side rise to the occasion.

His oldest player this season is 24 and two thirds of the squad are teenagers.

He said: "It will be a big test. The players on both sides all know each other and they’ll be playing for pride as much as anything."

Boss Paul Colenutt said: "We were solid and Peter Odetunde came on for his debut and scored a great goal. He’s from the under-18s.

"He’s an Island boy and the sort of player we want to be playing here."

Graham Andrews and Aaron Abbott scored the other goals.

Colenutt added: "I would rather be playing a league game as
we are flying at the moment but I’m still looking forward to the game.

"There are going to be some nerves around and nobody will want to lose this one."
