An overturned car caused gridlock on the M20 this afternoon.

Two lanes were closed as police dealt with the incident, with coastbound vehicles stuck in queues following the accident between junctions 2 and 3.

The gridlock was being made worse by a separate broken down vehicle on the inside lane.

But all three lanes are now open.

A police spokesman said officers were called at 2.22pm to a report a car had overturned while travelling on the M20 coastbound.

Officers enforced a rolling road block to ensure public safety.

They added: "Enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing."
