A father from Kent launched a terrifying knife attack after discovering his girlfriend had been cheating on him.

Jason Sansom, 26, first assaulted his partner and then demanded that she take him to where her lover Jamie Crichton lived.

The victim was still in bed in Dickens Road, Maidstone, on the morning of January 14 when Sansom smashed open the door with a gas cylinder.

Eleanor Laws, prosecuting at Maidstone Crown Court, said Sansom went upstairs to Mr Crichton’s bedroom, took out a knife and immediately started stabbing him.

"He stabbed him several times, including to the head, neck, arm, knee and thigh," Miss Laws told Maidstone Crown Court.

"The wounds to the neck, arm and knee were deep. At the time, the defendant was saying to Mr Crichton he would kill him."

Sansom, of Farrier Close, Weavering, admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

His not guilty pleas to attempted murder and aggravated burglary were accepted by the prosecution.

Adjourning sentence until April 20 for reports and remanding Sansom in custody, Judge Philip Statman said he would need to assess dangerousness to decide whether there should be an indeterminate term.
