Major fire at Eurolink Industrial Estate in Sittingbourne

Fire crews remain at the scene of a large fire Sittingbourne.

Flames and smoke can still be seen billowing from a site on West Lane at the Eurolink Industrial Estate following the blaze, which broke out on Saturday evening.

Fire crews arrived just after 7pm and at its height, 11 fire engines, a height vehicle and a bulk water carrier were at the scene.

By Sunday morning this had been reduced to three engines and just one by 7.35pm.

No casualties were reported and the cause is not yet known.

It is believed to be in a building used by the recycling company Suez - which handles tonnes of commercial waste.

On Sunday evening, a spokesman for the fire service said: "People living and working in Kemsley and Iwade are no longer advised to keep windows and doors closed. Thank you for your patience while crews worked at the scene.
