A man accused of murder following a bus collision in Rochester appeared in court today.

Bus driver Christopher Eggleton, 45, is alleged to have killed Martin Barlow. The 30-year-old died after a collision with a bus in Catherine Street on April 3.

Eggleton, of Dale Street, Chatham, appeared for a brief preliminary hearing at Maidstone Crown Court. His trial is expected to last two to three weeks and will be held in January next year.

He was released on bail with conditions including residence in Gosport, reporting to police, not to enter the Medway Towns and not to drive a motor vehicle.

Eggleton will enter a plea to the charge of murder when he returns to court for his next hearing on July 31.
