Man charged with killing young woman

A MAN has appeared before magistrates in Medway accused of the murder of 23-year-old Laura Sturla on the Great Lines at Gillingham.

Wayne Adams, 27, of Milton Road, Gillingham, is charged with murdering Miss Sturla between April 3 and 6. Her body was found at the popular beauty spot Saturday, April 5.

Mr Adams was remanded in custody and will appear at Maidstone Crown Court for the preliminary hearing on Thursday, April 17.

At the weekend police launched an appeal for information about the killing. Officers handed out photographs and posters of Miss Sturla on the Great Lines.

Det Chief Insp Matthew Nix said: "This is a very tragic event that has led to the death of 23-year-old Laura and we would like to ask for the assistance of the public in tracing Laura's movements between Friday, April 4 and 1.40pm on Saturday, April 5."
