Man found hanged despite cancer all-clear

A 43-year-old man who was diagnosed with cancer hanged himself shortly after being given the all clear.

The body of Colin Jackson was discovered hanging from the eaves in the kitchen of his ground floor flat in Livingstone Road, Gillingham.

He was found on July 2 by his landlord who called the police, an inquest into Mr Jackson's death heard.

The inquest at Gillingham heard that Mr Jackson had fought cancer but it was unclear if he had actually been told he had recovered before he killed himself.

His illness, coupled with a recent break-up with his girlfriend, had led Mr Jackson into depression.

A verdict of suicide was recorded.
