Man in court accused of murdering Cathal Hughes

A man accused of murder after the discovery of a body at a house in Ramsgate has appeared at Maidstone Crown Court.

Paul Prendergast, of Margate Road in the town is alleged to have killed 34-year-old Cathal Hughes on August 16.

Mr Hughes, of Mayers Road, Deal, was found with his throat cut in the first-floor bedroom of the house in Margate Road.

Prendergast, 44, was remanded in custody until November 18, when he is expected to enter a plea to the charge.

Judge Andrew Patience QC set a provisional trial date for April 6 next year.
