Security officers managed to fight off armed robbers who attacked them at a cash machine.

The two officers were at Lychgate service station just off the London-bound Thanet Way near Faversham at around 9.30am Wednesday when they were approached by two people wearing overalls, balaclavas and ski masks.

A fight broke out and both security officers managed to lock themselves into a room behind the cash machine. A gun was spotted being held by a robber during the scuffle.

The suspects made a quick getaway, leaving the scene empty-handed.

Police closed the service station and the Dargate Road entrance to the forecourt to allow investigations to be carried out.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and call 01795 419161 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
