Mother and daughter killed in Strood road collision named

A mother and daughter who died in a road crash in Strood have been named as 84-year-old Elsie Blades and her 60-year-old daughter Marilyn Herlihy.

Police have renewed their appeal for witnesses to the incident in Station Road at 12.05pm on Sunday, July 26.

A silver Seat Ibiza car, driven by an 18-year-old from Chatham, collided with the two women, who both lived nearby, as they crossed near the junction with Bowes Road.

Mrs Blades was pronounced dead at the scene. Her daughter was airlifted to the Royal London Hospital by Kent Air Ambulance but later died.
