A man accused of murder in Gravesend six years ago appeared in court today Friday.
Baljinder Singh Kooner, 34, of no fixed address, is alleged to have killed Kamaljit Kalon during a brutal knife attack on the Gordon Promenade in July 2003.
Mr Kalon, 31, from Sidcup, suffered multiple stab wounds.
Another man, Guljinder Singh Gurewal, 34, formerly of Edwin Street, Gravesend, admitted the murder and was jailed for life in September last year.
Kooner, who was aided during the brief hearing at Maidstone Crown Court by a Hindu-Punjabi interpreter, was detained in Paris and extradited to the UK earlier this month.
Although Kooner did not formally enter a plea to the charge, his trial was fixed to start on May 17 and is expected to last two weeks.
A formal plea and case management hearing will be held on January 22.
Judge Jeremy Carey remanded Kooner in custody until that date.
