New appeal over dance floor assault

POLICE have drawn a blank in their enquiries into a serious assault in Margate in which a teenager’s jaw was broken.

No-one has come forward with information about the assault, in April, despite it taking place on a crowded dance floor. They are now making a freh appeal.

The assault happened at about 1am on Friday 9 April. A 19-year-old man was dancing on the middle floor of Margate's Escape nightclub on Marine Terrace when he was attacked for seemingly no reason, and left with his jaw broken. Extensive enquiries have been carried out and CCTV has been seized, but so far no witnesses have come forward.

On that evening the club was very busy and there were several people on the dance floor. Police say they are sure someone would have seen the attack.

The suspect has been described a white man aged in his early twenties and 5ft 10in tall. He had dark brown hair with two-inch spikes on top but shorter at the sides and brown eyes.

He wore a long sleeved striped top. The investigating officer, PC Jess Hamer, can be contacted on (01843) 222182.
