The man who faked his own death to collect £500,000 insurance money has NOT had a heart attack - a judge has been told.

Anthony McErlean, 67, was due to be sentenced in August for the fraud, but it was feared he had suffered a heart seizure.

But a judge at Canterbury Crown Court said doctors now say he suffers from hypertension, but had not suffered an attack.

McErlean, of Swarling Hill Road, Petham will now be sentenced next Friday at Canterbury Crown Court.

He had admitted swindling an insurance company by faking a fatal car crash in Honduras in 2009.

The white-haired pensioner, didn't appear at hearing today, had earlier admitted also stealing £27,615 from a pension fund from the Port of London Authority and £40, 658 from the Department of Works and Pension.

The charges relate to fraudulent claims made in his father-in-law's name between 2007 and March 2011
