One killed and several hurt in Minster crash

A teenager died after a horror crash on the Isle of Sheppey.

The 17-year-old, who came from the Orpington area, was a passenger in a black Peugeot 106 which collided with a green Rover 75.

The accident happened at 8.30pm Friday on the B2231 Lower Road, Minster near the former Elm Tree Pub.

Fire crews from Sheppey, Eastchurch and Faversham, used specialist cutting equipment to free the trapped occupants from the cars.

The teenager, who has not been named, died at the scene.

The driver of the Peugeot, who is in his 20s, was taken to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, where he is being treated for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

The driver and passenger of the Rover, who are in their 60s, were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital at Gillingham for treatment. The road was closed until 3am Saturday.
