Wayne Parnell has been cleared to play for Kent Spitfires on Twenty20 finals day at Edgbaston on Saturday week.

The highly rated South African paceman (pictured), 20 last week, who dismissed Durham openers Phil Mustard and David Warner in his first two overs last week to start Kent’s quarter-final victory charge, returns home this week, but will be back for the club’s big day out in Birmingham.

Director of Cricket Graham Ford said: This is great news for the club, and we are delighted to be able to bring Wayne back. He made such a big impact in our quarter-final win against Durham Dynamos.

“I would like to thank Mickey Arthur, and the South African Cricket Board for allowing him to return, and I am sure he will play a key role on the day.”

The CSA rejected Parnell’s request to return to Kent for the rest of the summer, but agreed a compromise with his bosses to return for another five week stint.
