Paul Farbrace arrives back in Canterbury next week stressing continuity rather than change will be the way forward as he prepares to take over as new head coach at Kent.

The 41-year-old former Academy Director, and ex-wicketkeeper returns to the county, following two years as assistant coach with Sri Lanka, after delaying his arrival until the end of the Compaq Cup Tri-Nations series involving India and New Zealand which finishes with the final in Colombo on Sunday.

He then plans to be at the St Lawrence Ground on Thursday to watch Kent’s final home LV County Championship Division 2 of the season against Leicestershire.

He will spend two weeks with Cricket Director Graham Ford and Cricket Manager Simon Willis, before the official hand over at the end of the season.

Farbrace said: "Graham and I have kept in touch while I have been away.

"One of the main things to be discussed is how we keep the link between him and Kent.

"I don’t know how it will work at the moment, whether it means he will fly to England three times a year, or the three of us talking over the phone."

He added "I will be having a good look at things, talking about players, winter coaching plans and many other things in all areas. But I won’t be coming in, breaking it all up and start afresh."
