Police hunt Good Samaritan's attacker

A GOOD Samaritan has received treatment for a fractured skull after being attacked in Margate. The 31-year-old victim was walking up the High Street when he saw a group of youths.

Two members of the group appeared to be arguing. The victim asked one of them, a woman, if she was all right. He was then verbally abused by a young man.

The victim walked away, but the next thing he remembers is waking up on the ground. A police spokeswoman said: “He has no recollection about what happened to him, because he was somehow knocked unconscious.

“At first this appeared to be assault, but the man has since been told he has a fracture near his eye, so we are treating this as grievous bodily harm.

“The incident happened quite early in the evening last Friday at around 8.30pm, so we hope there would have been witnesses in nearby pubs and takeaways.”

The group were all in their mid to late teens. The youth who spoke to the man was wearing dark clothing, and a black baseball cap with a white peak.

When the victim came round, he was asked by a young woman if he was OK. He believes she may have been a member of the group, and police have urged her to come forward. She was black, and was wearing a light blue jacket with a zip up front.
