Police have been searching part of a Margate playing field following reports of a man with a knife.

A member of the public raised the alarm at around 7.50pm last night.
Officers were called to Hartsdown Park, where the man had reportedly been seen in a children's basketball court.

They carried out a thorough search of the area overnight. They used a police dog in the hunt for the man and his alleged weapon.

Inquiries were continuing today, a spokesman for Kent Police confirmed.
