Police launch Christmas Eve murder probe

DETECTIVES on Sheppey today launched a murder investigation following the death of a 24-year-old man.

The man died in the early hours of this morning after being attacked on Sunday night. He had suffered a serious head injury.

He was found in Clyde Street, Sheerness, at about 6.15pm on Sunday evening and was treated by paramedics befoe being taken to the Medway Maritime Hospital in Gillingham, He never regained consciousness was pronounced dead at 5.30am today.

The spot where he was found is close to a Chinese takeaway and a pub, and police say they want to question a bare-chested man in his 20s seen running from the scene.
