Castle Road, Chatham, taped off by police after serious assault

A residential street has been taped off by police after a serious assault, with forensic officers reportedly at the scene.

Castle Road in Chatham is blocked to pedestrians and traffic between the junctions with Victoria Road and Reform Road.

Police have confirmed that they were called to a serious assault at 10.12am today.

A spokeswoman for the force added: “Officers and paramedics attended the scene where a man was treated for injuries.

“No arrests have been made at this stage, and an investigation into the circumstances is underway.”

A witness - who does not wish to be named - told KentOnline: “There are at least four police cars and a team of forensics.

“The road has been shut to all traffic and pedestrians between Victoria Road and Reform Road, including the junction with Listmas Road.

“It appears to be a serious incident.”

The 164 Arriva bus has reportedly been diverted due to the cordon.
