Probe into assault at Chinese restaurant

POLICE were called to a Chinese restaurant in Staplehurst, near Maidstone, yesterday after a man was assaulted.

The male victim, who does not speak English, was discovered in the High Street just after 11.30am suffering from injuries to his head, throat, ribs and arms. He was taken to Maidstone Hospital.

Maidstone and Malling Police, who are investigating the incident, cordoned off an area around the Zen Wok Chinese restaurant for several hours.

Police spokeswoman Gianna Pollero said a Chinese interpreter would be called in to help officers interview the victim and establish the events surrounding the incident.
