Flood alerts issued in across Kent after yellow weather warning

Flood alerts will remain in force across Kent today following two days of heavy rainfall - with 60 roads closed across the county.

The conditions have caused chaos for drivers and commuters and left part of the A26 near Hadlow looking like a "swimming pool", while a caravan park has been evacuated for the second time in three weeks.

KCC Highways described the situation as "severe" and said the road had been shut between the A228 roundabout and Common Lane.

Officials said due to the sheer volume of water they will struggle to clear it in time for rush-hour this morning.

The authority is dealing with 60 road closures.
