Rob Key leads Kent Spitfires into their third successive Twenty20 finals day at Edgbaston on Saturday urging his side to "beware of the underdog."

They face fellow former champions Somerset Sabres in the second semi-final (3pm), the first meeting between the sides in the competition, while Northamptonshire Steelbacks face Sussex Sharks (11.30am).

Key said: "It’s the best day of the domestic season. It’s all about one player who steps up at the right time and can have a big influence, so beware.

"I remember Lancashire went there two years ago with a star-studded side and were beaten by Gloucestershire, who we then beat in the final."

Somerset, led by Justin Langer, qualified third in the Midlands, West and Wales Group, beating the Red Rose county in the first
bowl-out after rain washed out any play at Old Trafford, with former Kent all-rounder Peter Trego eager to do well against his former side.

Two other former players keen to enjoy the day will be South African all-rounder Andrew Hall and Irish wicket-keeper Niall O’Brien who will spearhead the Steelbacks’ challenge against Sussex.

The Spitfires have been installed as favourites with bookmakers to win the Cup and join Surrey and Leicestershire as two-time winners.

Ladbrokes offer them at 9-4 with Sussex 15-8, Somerset 5-2 and Northants, the outsiders at 4-1.
