A KENT police officer remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital today after being struck down by his own car in an incident at Kings Hill earlier this week.

PC Guy Miller, 33, a married father of four, is based at traffic headquarters at Coldharbour at Aylesford, near Maidstone. Members of his family are understood to be at Maidstone Hospital where he is in still in intensive care.

PC Miller was severely injured after he pursued two people on a motorbike from a road check on the M20 near Swanley to the Kings Hill estate, at about 12.30pm on Wednesday.

Yesterday afternoon detectives were granted an extension by magistrates to hold a 19-year-old man for questioning until some time tonight.

They are still looking for a second man who they wish to speak to. He was captured by CCTV cameras at West Malling railway station as he walked through the ticket hall onto a platform.

The station clock showed 12.37pm. Police believe he boarded a London-bound train. The man wore a distinctive red top and dark trousers.

Police are also asking for a man who spoke to officers at the scene shortly after the incident to get back in touch. Anyone with information should call Maidstone and Malling police on 01622 608088.
