Shop raiders grab diamond necklace

POLICE have appealed for witnesses after four black men stole a diamond necklace from a jeweller’s shop in Broadstairs High Street. The four men, all believed to be in their 20s, went into the shop at about at about 12.45pm on Tuesday and asked to see items on display in the window.

When the shop assistant opened the window, one of the robbers snatched the necklace, which is worth £900.

All four men then ran out of the shop and up the High Street into Belmont Road. There they got into a white Ford Fiesta which reversed into the High Street before being driven off towards Margate.

The man who took the necklace is described as 6ft 4ins tall, wearing a white tracksuit, and with a shaven head. Another man wore a black coat and a red hat. The other two both wore leather jackets, one brown and one black.

The men are believed to have visited a jeweller’s shop in Ramsgate approximately one hour earlier.
