A six-year-old girl is in a critical condition after being injured in a three-car crash in Watling Street, Dartford yesterday.

Police are appealing for witnesses after six people in the cars - including the girl - were taken to hospital.

Officers think two of the cars struck each other, while the third hit the side of the road.

The road was closed from 3.45pm yesterday until about 10.30pm last night as officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit began investigations.

Anyone who can help is asked to ring the unit on 01622 798538.

The crash involved a blue Ford Focus, a silver VW Passat and a blue VW Golf.

All six people were injured, but the girl suffered life-threatening injuries and was later transferred to a London hospital.

PC Mick Sayer, who is leading the investigation, said: "We are keen to establish the circumstances of this collision and would like to speak with anyone that may have seen the incident or events leading up to the collision as they could help with our investigations."
