Short and sharp bursts of snow and hail sweep across Kent

Snowstorms have been whipping across the county - but have disappeared as quickly as they arrived.

This morning's bright sunshine gave way to rain, hail and a short burst of the white stuff this afternoon.

UK Snow Updates tweeted reports of a "quick snowstorm" in Maidstone today.

And light flurries were also said to have fallen in Chatham, Faversham, Folkestone, Dover and Ashford.

The wintry showers are expected to fizzle out this evening as skies clear.

Temperatures are due to dip below freezing and a widespread frost is predicted.
