A dedicated animal lover bounced more than six miles on a space hopper to help save the gorilla.

Emily Hodgson, 18, of Ruckinge, raised £300 from her six and a half mile journey from Aldington primary school to Hamstreet nursery school.

She said: “It was sore but it was worth it.

“I have a deep love for gorillas, who are slowly dying and may not be around future generations to enjoy.”

Emily has raised the money for the Aspinall Foundation, which has lowland gorillas at its Howletts and Port Lympne animal parks.

Money will also go to the Dian Fossey Fund, which aids mountain gorillas.

There are only 2,700 gorillas left in the wild because of poaching and loss of habitat to farming.

Emily, who attended both Aldington and Hamstreet schools, is studying animal management at Hadlow College in Tonbridge and hopes to become a gorilla keeper.
