Police are warning drivers to expect delays if Operation Stack is brought in during strike action.

Travellers are urged to contact their travel operators, as police monitor French industrial action before a Stack decision is made.

Operation Stack is where parts of the M20 are used to queue lorries that are travelling to the continent, to avoid causing gridlock on Kent's road network.

The strike action is also likely to affect cross channel services docking at Calais.

Thursdays are traditionally busy for freight traffic travelling to the continent as drivers must get to their destinations in France before Sunday.
