Hot weather predicted in Kent as Spanish plume brings temperatures of 29c

Kent is set to sizzle this weekend as temperatures soar to highs of almost 30c.

Hordes are expected to descend on the coast after the Met Office predicted sweltering conditions.

A so-called "Spanish plume" will create hot and humid air across the country, bringing "good sunny spells" and "very warm" conditions this afternoon, with a maximum temperature of 27c expected.

The mercury is due to rise further tomorrow, with the county set to bask in highs of 29c.

But there's a warning the heat could trigger severe thunderstorms.

Forecasters say conditions will turn increasingly unsettled by Sunday and into Monday, with heavy, thundery showers expected.
