Teen battered with blunt weapon

A teenager's face was severely battered in an attack.

The 17-year-old suffered a broken jaw, fractured eye socket and broken teeth after he was hit with what police described ‘as some sort of blunt weapon’.

The incident happened in Roman Square, Sittingbourne, at around 10.30pm on Friday.

He was taken to Medway Maritime Hospital before being transferred to the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead for reconstructive surgery.

A 17-year-old, from Gillingham and a 17-year-old and 18-year-old, both from Sittingbourne, were arrested on suspicion of GBH. They were released on police bail until November 9.
