Teenage girl accused of stealing booze from Shepherd Neame

by Katie Alston

A teenager has been charged with burglary after a police investigation into stolen alcohol from Shepherd Neame brewery.

The girl was arrested when police carried out raids on seven addresses in Faversham at 6am Wednesday.

The dawn raids, which involved 20 officers, came about after the discovery of DNA evidence on used cans and bottles found near the brewery.

The 16-year-old from Faversham is due to appear before Sittingbourne magistrates on Thursday.

A total of 16 people, most of them juveniles, have been arrested in the operation, which police say was the culmination of a prolonged investigation into several burglaries at Shepherd Neame.

The group - which includes two 12-year-olds and two 13-year-olds - have been bailed to appear at Sittingbourne police station on Monday July 6.
