Teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, arrested after “assault” at Sittingbourne train station sees knife recovered

Two teenagers have been arrested after a man was reportedly assaulted at a train station.

Three police vehicles were spotted outside Sittingbourne railway station shortly before 10pm last night.

They were lined up at the St. Michael’s Road site opposite Nando’s.

Police have now confirmed two teenage boys have been detained.

A spokesperson for the force said: “Kent Police was called at 9.50pm on Friday to St Michael’s Road following reports that a man had been assaulted.

“Officers attended and arrested two males, a 16 and 17-year-old, on suspicion of attempted robbery and possession of a bladed article.”

The 17-year-old has been bailed until Thursday, January 29, while the 16-year-old is due to return to the police station on Friday, January 30.

No injuries were reported.
