Here are the people who have appeared before magistrates in the Kent in March

Drink-drivers and shoplifters are just some of the people who appeared before Kent's magistrates' courts.

Here are the latest batch of criminals to face justice in the county.

East Kent

A drink-driver has been disqualified from the road for 22 months and fined £276 after been stopped by police.

Joji Kottackal Vareeth, of Wilson Close, Ashford, pleaded guilty and was sentenced on March 23 at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court.

When stopped he gave a reading of 77 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.

The 50-year-old was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.

A 31-year-old man from Hastings has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after pleading guilty to a theft in Ashford.

Daniel Millen, of Devonshire Road, stole £2,500 worth of goods from a shop in Ashford on December 31.

He was ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

Millen was also ordered to pay a total compensation of £1,000, a surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

A 31-year-old woman from Deal received a driving ban at Margate Magistrates' Court on March 4.

Sian Bray, of St Francis Close, refused to provide a specimen for analysis in Canterbury on December 11 last year.

She pleaded guilty to the offence and was disqualified from driving for 18 months and ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

She was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

Catalin Costache, 31, from Leeds, pleaded guilty to going equipped for theft in Folkestone on March 3.

He was sentenced to 120 days in prison, suspended for 12 months.

He was also ordered to carry out 180 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and pay a surcharge of £128 and costs of £50.

Sam Painter from Ashford pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis in Folkestone on February 5.

The 34-year-old was disqualified from driving for a total of 36 months.

Painter was also ordered to carry out 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and pay a surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

North Kent

Paul Miller, 53, of Wentworth Drive, Dartford, has been disqualified from driving for three years.

He pleaded guilty to driving above the legal drug-drive limit and possession of cocaine and cannabis.

He was stopped by police in Stone on November 21 and gave a reading of over 800 microgrammes of benzoylecgonine in one litre of blood - the legal limit is 50.

He also gave a reading of 73 microgrammes of cocaine, 63 microgrammes over the legal limit.

As well as being disqualified from driving, Miller was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months and must pay £75 surcharge and costs of £85.

A man from Essex was sentenced on March 21 at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to driving while above the legal drink-drive limit.

Siraj Munir, of Littlebury Green, Basildon was stopped by police in Dartford on June 14 last year.

The 34-year-old gave a reading of 169 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood - the legal limit is 80.

Munir was disqualified from driving for a total of 36 months and ordered to pay a surcharge of £22 and costs of £85.

Siddharth Raina, of Vigilant Way, Gravesend, has been disqualified from driving for 20 months and fined £230.

The 26-year-old pleaded guilty to driving while above the legal drink-drive limit, in Gravesend, on October 14 last year.

When stopped he gave a reading of 75 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the legal limit is 35.

Raina was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £300.

Luke Ralph, of Princes Avenue, Chatham, was also disqualified from driving for three years and fined £200.

He pleaded guilty to driving above the legal drug-drive limit, in Maidstone, on October 19 last year.

The 30-year-old gave a reading of 672 microgrammes of Benzoylecgonine and 48 microgrammes of cocaine when he was tested by police.

Ralph was also ordered to pay a £34 surcharge and costs of £85.

A 42-year-old from Barfield, Dartford, was sentenced on at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court for a speeding offence.

James Storey, pleaded guilty to speeding on the M20 on February 21.

He was disqualified from driving for a total of 30 months and fined £600.

Story was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £60 and costs of £90.

Miroslav Balog, of Hillside Road, Chatham, was also sentenced on March 7 at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court for a driving offence.

Balog pleaded guilty to driving without a licence, driving above the legal drug-drive limit and drink-drive limit, in Chatham, on March 5.

When stopped, the 23-year-old gave a reading of 51 microgrammes of Methylamphetamine in one litre of blood - 41 microgrammes over the limit.

He also gave a reading of 156 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and was disqualified from driving for a total of 28 months, fined £160 and ordered to pay £34 surcharge and costs of £85.

West Kent

A man from West Sussex has been ordered to carry out unpaid work after appearing at Maidstone Magistrates' Court.

Simon Ladu, of Arundel Close, pleaded guilty to theft from a shop in Tunbridge Wells on September 13.

The 39-year-old was sentenced to 120 days in prison, suspended for two years and ordered to pay compensation of £865.

Samantha Marchant, 39, of Southridge Rise, Crowborough, was sentenced on March 22 at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court.

She pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen for analysis in Tunbridge Wells on February 12.

Marchant was disqualified from driving for 36 months and ordered to pay a surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

Tyler Welch, of Hazelbourne Avenue, Sevenoaks, pleaded guilty to driving when above the legal drink-drive limit, in Aylesford, on February 26

When stopped by police, the 21-year-old gave a reading of 78 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Welch was disqualified from driving for 18 months, fined £415 and was ordered to pay a surcharge of £42 and costs of £85.

Sarah Jones, of Tonbridge Road, Maidstone, was disqualified from driving for 29 months after pleading guilty to drink-driving.

The 52-year-old was pulled over in Maidstone on January 2.

When stopped she gave a reading of 125 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

She was disqualified from driving for 29 months and ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months.

Jones was also ordered to pay a surcharge of £95 and costs of £85.

Stephen Burke, 27, of St Marys Road, Swanley, was sentenced on March 7 at Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court.

Burke pleaded guilty to possession of a bladed article in a public place and possession of cocaine, on February 18 in Horton Kirby.

He was jailed for 90 days and ordered to pay a surcharge of £128 and costs of £85.

Darren Eiffert of Windmill Court, Maidstone, pleaded guilty to driving while over the legal drink-drive limit Maidstone on February 13.

He appeared at Maidstone Magistrates’ Court on March 9.

When stopped he gave a reading of 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath.

The 49-year-old was disqualified from driving for 18 months, fined £140 and ordered to pay a surcharge of £34 and costs of £85.
