The moment a woman is almost run over in Paddock Wood

This is the incredible moment an elderly woman is almost mown
down in Paddock Wood.

The lady, who was pushing a shopping trolley, had stopped to
cross Allington Road.

Shocking CCTV footage shows one car stopping to let her across
before another vehicle comes into picture.

The driver then overtakes the stationary car, missing the woman
by inches.

Miraculously, the pedestrian was unhurt, although she was shaken
by her ordeal.

The car, thought to be a white Volkswagen Polo, registered in
around 1999 with a black sunroof, failed to stop and drove off
towards Matfield.

The driver is believed to be aged between 20 and 30 years old
and is thought to have brightly coloured red hair.

DC Mathew Hulbert from Kent Police said: "We've released this
footage in the hope of gaining more information about the incident
or of the driver contacting us to clear their conscience.

"If anyone recognises the car, which is quite distinctive, or
has any further information, we'd ask them to contact us.

"We're especially keen to talk to a male driver who stopped to
help the elderly woman shortly after the incident. He was driving a
small city car and may have tried to catch up with the offending
vehicle."

The terrifying incident happened at around 11.20am last Monday
(October 3).
