Thieves raid Canterbury jewellers

Three people raided an east Kent jewellers yesterday, getting away with gold, silver and platinum jewellery.

Witnesses say hammers were used to smash the windows of Hadfields jewellers in Castle Street in Canterbury at around 3.25pm.

A black Ford Focus was used as a getaway vechicle, which was abandoned in Stour Street at the junction with Beer Cart Lane.

The men were last seen on foot, crossing the River Stour towards St Peter's Grove.

No one was hurt during the incident.

Police would like to speak to anyone who saw the car in the area or a group of men, at least three in total, who raised suspicions in the city yesterday afternoon.
