The McDonald's, KFC, Subway and Burger King branches which have reopened in Kent

A number of popular fast food joints have opened stores across Kent.

McDonald's, Burger King and KFC are among those who have welcomed back those craving their favourite tasty meals.

It comes after chains across the county closed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But on Saturday a government minister said fast-food chains were never required to shut in the first place.

Here is when and where you can get your fix...

McDonald's

They include Gillingham Bowaters, Sittingbourne Retail Park and Beechings Way Industrial Centre, Gillingham - but only for delivery.

The branch at Bellegrove Road, Welling, will also open.

Additionally branches at Chelmsford Riverside, Chelmsford Westway, Ipswich Cardinal Park, Boreham Interchange, Luton Leagrave, Watford, Luton Chaul End Lane, Tooting, Dalston, Welling, Harrow and Luton George Street will reopen as part of the first wave.

Customers can only order food via the Uber Eats app and must fall within 1.5 miles of the restaurant.

All restaurants and car parks will remain closed and orders will have a £25 spending limit.

There will also be a limited hours and menu - including many of its burgers, chicken nuggets, Fillet-o-Fish, fries and hot drinks range but no breakfast.

A further 30 pilot restaurants in the UK and Ireland, offering service through the drive-thru lane, will reopen next Wednesday also capped at £25.

The company plans to reopen all drive-thrus by early June.

Burger King

The fast food giant has opened the Medway North branch at the M2 services in Rainham - near Junction 4.

Since last month, Burger King has slowly started to reopen restaurants in the UK - but only for delivery and drive-thru.

A further 72 will open from Monday, May 18, and 40 branches the following week.

The chain has provided staff with personal protective equipment and given them training on distancing measures.

Customers will have a limited menu to choose from - but it includes the Whopper and the Chicken Royale.

KFC

A number of KFC drive-thrus have reopened for chicken lovers across Kent.

Four outlets - in Ashford, Broadstairs, Dover and Gillingham - are now catering for motorists.

The stores were previously only open for delivery - but bosses believed it was safe enough to have the drive-thrus up-and-running.

Subway

Outlets in Dover, Thanet, Canterbury, Folkestone, Medway and Maidstone are among those to welcome back customers.

People can also order for delivery via Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats from the reopened branches.

But the stores will adhere to strict social distancing measures - including personal protective equipment for staff and improved hygiene practices.

Five Guys

The fast-food chain previously opened its restaurants in Maidstone and Canterbury last week.

However, it's not opened a third of its chains for delivery and click and collect orders this week, this time in Bromley.

Customers will have a full menu to choose from when they make their orders.

Greggs

Greggs has reopened a small number of stores - but none are in Kent.

The Newcastle-based baker has reopened at an undisclosed number of shops in the Tyneside area.

Nando's

Nando's is yet to reopen any of its Kent branches.

It has started to reopen its doors at a small number of branches elsewhere in the UK.
