Three-year hunt goes on

THE police chief in charge of the case of missing mother-of-three Debbie Griggs has vowed he will never give up. Although Det Supt Bob Nelson has changed jobs after being promoted he is determined to get to the bottom of the mystery.

He has been with the investigation from the start and made the first appeal for clues in May 1999 when pregnant Mrs Griggs went missing from her Walmer home leaving her three young sons.

At the time Supt Nelson said: "Lots of people go missing every day but is very unusual for a mother to leave her children like this."

As the months and years passed with no word from her, Mr Nelson admitted that the chances of her being alive were remote. Despite national television appeals, emotional pleas from her family and continued police investigations there were no clues to her whereabouts.

"Somebody out there knows something and this case will not be closed until we find out what happened to Debbie," said Supt Nelson. Anyone with information should ring 01622 654850.
