Beat the heat with handy guide to top 10 places to stay cool in Kent

Friday is here - and it's going to be a scorcher across Kent.

As medics warn of the risks of getting too much sun amid heatwave conditions, here is our top 10 of places to keep cool in Kent.

1. Dover's secret wartime tunnels

What better way to keep cool than take refuge underground? In the secret wartime tunnels, bored into the White Cliffs of Dover, you can learn a bit of history as you shelter from the heat.

2. Margate beach

Enjoy the sun, sea and sand at Margate. Granted you'll be sharing the beach with half of east London. but we should make the most the weather while it lasts.

With air conditioning set perpetually to freezing, this may be the best way of keeping cool in Kent. But ticket prices might make it an expensive option.
