Two men get away with cash from Medway bookmakers

Police launched a helicopter and used dogs to hunt down robbers who held up a Medway bookmaker.

Two men stormed into Metrobet in Rochester High Street shortly before 6.30pm yesterday and demanded cash.

The men were seen going into a building along the High Street after the incident and when police searched the premises.

Officers found evidence they had been there.

No one was injured in the incident, but police said staff were threatened.

Investigating officer DC Clare Gibson said: "Officers quickly attended the scene and searched the local area for the offenders, but they weren't found.

"Anyone who witnessed the robbery or has information about the offenders should contact Police immediately.

"One of the men was seen to be wearing jeans and a black top and was carrying a green plastic bag.

"The second man was wearing a bright green hooded top."
